April 29, 2024

Good Morning Gardiner Hawks! These are your announcements for Monday, April 29th

Please stand if you’d like to participate in the Pledge of Allegiance. If you choose not to participate, please remain respectfully silent.

I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the

Republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and

justice for all.
You may be seated.

We also take time today to read our land acknowledgement. This is in front of our school near the office. Come by and take a look!

We acknowledge the land on which we sit and occupy today as the traditional home of the tribal nations, Clackamas, Watlala also known as Cascades, Clowwewalla also known as Willamette Tumwaters, and Northern Molalla. All of whom were relocated after signing the Willamette Valley Treaty of 1855 to the Grand Ronde Reservation and today their descendants are members of the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde. With gratitude, we look forward to the generations for whom this will be a place of learning.

Who is interested in being in this year's Talent Show? GMS Talent Show will be Wed. June 12, but sign ups are happening now! There will be QR codes and links to the digital sign up. There will also be a paper sign up outside Mrs. Tebon's office. You only have to sign up once, digitally or on the paper. Talents may include dancing, singing, magic tricks, stand up comedy, a skit/play scene, and more! Sign ups are today, April 26 until May 15, so start thinking about what talent you would love to showcase to our school and be ready to sign up starting today!

Are you already in AVID elective and interested in continuing next year? Recommit information will be in your AVID class starting now!

If you are NOT in the AVID elective class right now and ARE interested in being in AVID next year, please grab an application from the Welcome Center, or see Mrs. Tebon!!

Why should you consider joining AVID? GMS AVID students get to visit at least one college campus per year- OSU as 7th graders and U of O for 8th graders! They also get to visit their old elementary school and read to K-2nd graders! 8th grade AVID students this year also got to visit OCHS AVID and went to the Art Museum. AVID provides great opportunities for learning more about careers and college readiness, and supporting your current work at GMS! Questions? Ask Mrs. Tebon or Mrs. McCormick! Applications are due back by Wed. May 1.

Attention Todos Unidos students...all 7th and 8th grade science classes with Amezquita will meet in the community room (next to the office) today.

Mr. Myers' 4th and 5th periods report to the community room. Do not go to class, go directly to the community room. Mr. Myers' 4th and 5th periods
